NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Venn, the secure remote work company, today announced Blue Border™ for AI Governance & Security. The release extends Blue Border to let organizations with remote and distributed workforces govern and securely use AI on any laptop, whether or not the company owns or manages it.
Installing Blue Border on a Mac or PC creates a company-controlled secure enclave on that laptop, isolating business activity from everything else on the same machine. Until now, Blue Border's AI controls centered on data loss prevention for browser-based AI. Available today, the release extends that control to AI running natively on the desktop.
Anthropic's Claude desktop apps, Claude, Claude Cowork and Claude Code, now run natively inside Blue Border – to maintain governance and ensure data policies are strictly enforced. Tenant restrictions allow sign-ins to approved AI services only from company-provided accounts. IP-based access controls narrow those sign-ins further, to your dedicated Blue Border IP addresses — so data can't be exfiltrated from an unmanaged device. Unapproved AI tools stay blocked from company data entirely.
Together, they give organizations a secure way to adopt AI across all their workflows, in the browser and on the desktop, on every device their people use, and without a virtual desktop. They extend Blue Border's founding promise, use any app on any device without compromising security, into the AI era.
Saying No to AI Comes at a Cost
Organizations in regulated industries face a compounding dilemma: they cannot afford to fall behind on AI productivity, but they cannot tolerate the data exposure that comes with open adoption. Research compiled by the Cloud Security Alliance found that 71 percent of all connections to generative AI tools are made through personal, non-corporate accounts1. Blocking AI outright slows a company's own people down, and results in inevitable workarounds and shadow AI practices. When organizations provision sanctioned AI tools instead, unauthorized use drops by 89 percent2.

Run Claude Natively: 100% App Performance On Any Laptop
Claude, Claude Cowork and Claude Code, Anthropic's AI desktop applications, now run natively inside Blue Border. As more AI workloads move onto the device itself as native apps and OS-embedded assistants, controlling the browser or the cloud alone is no longer enough. Because Blue Border governs AI in the browser and desktop, it covers those workflows wherever they run.
For regulated organizations enabling BYOD and contractor programs, this changes the ceiling on AI productivity. Remote employees and contractors can use the most capable AI tools in their full native form, on a personal machine, under the same controls that apply to browser-based AI. There is no hardware to ship and no virtual desktop in between. Support for additional applications, including ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, is on the roadmap for later this year.
Stop Shadow AI: Prevent Company Data From Reaching Unapproved AI Tools
Employees and contractors are already using AI for work, often through their own personal ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini account, and on laptops their company doesn't manage. Blue Border prevents any unapproved AI application from running inside the secure enclave and touching company data. Enforcement happens at the application layer, covering AI wherever it runs: a browser tab, a native desktop app, or an assistant embedded in the operating system. Rather than maintaining a blocklist of named products, IT blocks AI as a category and allows only the specific tools it has approved.
On any laptop, whether managed, BYOD or third-party owned, DLP controls are enforced across copy/paste, upload, download, screenshot, print, and AI, closing off the most common exposure path.
Seventy-seven percent of employees paste data into AI prompts, and 82 percent of those pastes happen through unmanaged personal accounts, outside the reach of conventional DLP3. Personal AI stays personal: employees keep their own accounts for their own time, and work-related activities are policy-protected.
Company AI Under Company Control: The Right Account, From Trusted Locations
Approving an AI tool is not the same as controlling how it's used. An employee can open the sanctioned tool, sign in with a personal account, and paste in company data. Or, they can sign into the company's AI account from a personal browser at home, where none of the company's controls apply. Blue Border closes both paths. Tenant restrictions ensure company data is only accessible when users are signed in to company-provided accounts. A personal sign-in inside Blue Border is restricted.
Conditional access handles the second because all Blue Border traffic comes from IP addresses dedicated to that customer. Organizations can point their existing access policies at those addresses, exactly as they already do for Microsoft 365 and Salesforce. Any sign-in to a company-provided AI service originating from an untrusted location is rejected.
The result is that an AI policy becomes enforceable. Data stays in the corporate tenant, AI access ends with off-boarding rather than living on in a personal login, and company AI tools only work inside Blue Border.
