MIPI A-PHY To Power Industry’s First Four-Company Automotive SerDes Interoperability Demonstration at AutoSens USA

Demo to take place June 9-11 in Detroit with Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Southchip Semiconductor Technology, Valens Semiconductor and Velinktech

BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#MIPI--The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops specifications that standardize wired interfaces for mobile and other connected ecosystems, today announced the automotive industry’s first four-company interoperability demonstration of a high-speed SerDes system.

Based on the MIPI A-PHY standard, the demonstration, taking place June 9-11, 2026, at AutoSens USA (Booth #317), will feature solutions from Sony Semiconductor Solutions, Southchip Semiconductor Technology, Valens Semiconductor and Velinktech.

For the demonstration, these four A-PHY providers will contribute transmitters, each extending nearly 8Gbps of data from 8MP cameras over 15 meters (49 feet), to a Valens Semiconductor deserializer.

“Vendor interoperability like what’s being demonstrated at AutoSens USA is another indicator of the maturity of the A-PHY specification and the robust multivendor ecosystem being built around it,” said Peter Lefkin, MIPI Alliance executive director. “As A-PHY adoption continues to grow—from image sensors and connectivity solutions to in-vehicle platforms—we’re delivering on A-PHY’s commitment to provide automotive OEMs with greater flexibility, broader supplier choice and increased confidence in their supply chains.”

MIPI A-PHY is a standardized, long-reach (up to 15 meters) SerDes solution that enables high-speed connectivity for image sensors and displays in next-generation ADAS, ADS and SDV centralized compute systems. Featuring ultra-high noise immunity and reliability, it supports multiple higher-layer protocols and forms the foundation of the MIPI Automotive SerDes Solutions (MASS) end-to-end framework with built-in functional safety and security. A-PHY-based chipsets have been selected by several OEMs in design wins and implementations.

In May, MIPI launched the A-PHY Compliance Program, an industry first for an automotive SerDes standard, allowing member companies to validate that MIPI A-PHY devices have been tested and deemed compliant with the relevant specifications.

MIPI is offering a webinar, “MIPI A-PHY: What’s New, What’s Next and the New Compliance Program,” on July 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. CEST. To keep up with MIPI Alliance, subscribe to the MIPI blog and stay connected by following MIPI on LinkedIn and YouTube.
