New integration will help employees connect their pay to Cash App during direct deposit election, supporting Cash App’s broader strategy to serve as the money app for modern earners
DISTRIBUTED-WORK-MODEL/OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cash App today announced a new partnership with Workday that will make it easier for eligible employees in the U.S. to select Cash App as their direct deposit destination through Workday’s Enhanced Direct Deposit experience.
As of October 1, Cash App will appear as a direct deposit option within Workday’s enhanced direct deposit election experience, helping employees quickly and securely route their paycheck into Cash App. Workday supports millions of employees across the U.S., giving Cash App an opportunity to meet customers at one of the most important moments in their financial lives: when and how they get paid.
“Employees increasingly expect their financial solutions to be simple, accessible, and integrated into their everyday lives,” said Meraj Mohammad, senior director strategic partnerships at Workday. “Through Workday’s Enhanced Direct Deposit experience, we make direct deposit updates more seamless while giving employees more choice in where they receive their pay.”
Cash App’s Modern Earner research shows that nationally only 65% of adult Modern Earners - freelancers, side-hustlers, content creators, and gig workers - receive a traditional ACH direct deposit to any bank account, underscoring how many people are managing income across multiple sources and platforms.1 By making it easier to route paycheck deposits into Cash App, the Workday integration helps Modern Earners manage their income streams in one place.
“Direct deposit is one of the clearest signals that customers see Cash App as more than a place to send and receive money,” said Morgan Kuntze, Global Head of Partnerships, Block. “By partnering with Workday, we’re making it easier for more people to bring their paycheck into Cash App and unlock tools that help them manage, save, spend, and access their money.”
This builds on Cash App’s ongoing investment in banking products designed for how people earn and manage money today. Cash App has continued to see strong engagement from customers who use the app as their primary banking platform. In Q2 2026, Cash App had 9.4 million Primary Banking Actives, up 17% year over year.2 The Workday integration is another step in Cash App’s strategy to make Cash App the money app for modern earners.
