Orion Launches the Next Evolution of Its Flexible Ecosystem to Expand Secure Connectivity and AI Innovation

The expansion, backed by the largest R&D investment in the company's history, extends integration provider connectivity across API, MCP, and data-sharing methods, with enhanced marketplace visibility, integration certification, and published support commitments

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Orion announced the next phase of its flexible ecosystem, with expanded capabilities for integration providers and a roadmap for future innovation designed to create more ways to securely and reliably connect to data through Orion, build across the ecosystem, and unlock new opportunities with AI. As advisor technology becomes more interconnected, firms increasingly rely on secure access to data across platforms, applications, and AI-enabled tools to power the experiences they deliver to investors.

With the broadest and most open ecosystem in wealth management1, Orion has evolved into one of the industry's most significant channels for technology providers seeking to reach advisory firms, with more than 500 integration providers connecting to firms through Orion. That scale also gives advisors greater flexibility to choose the technology, data, and workflows that work best for their firm and clients. As AI changes how advisors work, open, secure, and governed access to data matters more than ever: AI tools are only as useful as the data they can securely access. This next phase of Orion’s flexible ecosystem expands provider connectivity while establishing clearer, more consistent standards for how providers connect to and build across Orion.

"Orion has always believed that when great technology connects, advisors can better serve their clients," said Reed Colley, President of Orion Advisor Technology. "We opened our API to the industry in 2015, when most platforms still kept their doors closed, and we were among the first to offer data sharing in 2022. AI makes that openness matter more than ever, and the next phase of our flexible ecosystem opens Orion even further. Providers can now build across both Orion Connect and Redtail CRM, bringing both portfolio and client relationship data together, and advisors get more choice in how they build the technology stacks that fit their firms."

New Ways to Connect

Participating Orion integration providers will receive:

  • Expanded access across Orion, including Redtail CRM and Orion Connect APIs
  • MCP access for integration providers so AI-enabled tools can connect to Orion securely
  • Continued support for existing connection methods, including Redshift and Snowflake
  • Visibility in the Orion Integration Marketplace
  • Integration certification and access to an API sandbox environment
  • Defined rate limits and published support commitments
  • Advance notice of platform and API changes
  • Continued investment in new data and AI capabilities, including more granular data access, the Orion Denali Gateway Portal, AI services, agents, and workflow orchestration

“We recently launched our first MCP connector with Claude, giving advisors a secure way to connect AI to Orion, and we’re expanding MCP access to our integration providers in the coming weeks," Colley said. "It's part of Orion's 2026 R&D investment, the largest in our history, and it's focused squarely on AI. From more granular data access and the Denali Gateway Portal to AI services, agents, and orchestration that move work across systems, we’re building the foundation for advisors and our providers to put AI to work securely and responsibly.”

Together, these capabilities strengthen Orion’s flexible ecosystem, giving technology providers more ways to innovate across Orion while giving advisors greater choice in the technology and tools they use to serve their clients.

As the ecosystem opens further, Orion's commitment to its clients is unchanged: firms own their data. The connected ecosystem strengthens governance over how that data is accessed and used through certified integrations, defined access standards, and advance notice of platform changes. That way, firms can adopt new technology with confidence that their data stays under their control.
