HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced the release of its 2025 Sustainability Report, which details the company’s approach to long-term value creation.

“Sustainability isn’t a checkbox for us – it’s core to our business and woven into the way we operate,” said Yafit Cohn, Chief Sustainability Officer at Travelers. “This report reflects our integrated approach to creating sustainable value by investing in our people and communities, managing risks responsibly and driving innovation that keeps us relevant for decades to come.”

The report provides an in-depth review of 16 topics the company has identified as its key drivers of sustained value: Business Strategy & Competitive Advantages, Capital & Risk Management, Climate Strategy, Community, Customer Experience, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity, Disaster Preparedness & Response, Diversity & Inclusion, Eco-Efficient Operations, Ethics & Responsible Business Practices, Governance Practices, Human Capital Management, Innovation, Investment Management, Public Policy and Safety & Health.

Highlights from the 2025 report include:

Business Strategy & Competitive Advantages

  • Travelers embarked on “Innovation 2.0,” building on the innovation skill set developed over the past decade to capitalize on the opportunities presented by AI.
  • More than 20,000 Travelers employees use AI tools on a regular basis, dozens of generative AI tools are in production, millions of transactions are automated, and agentic AI is embedded in the company’s business operations.

Community

  • Travelers and the Travelers Foundation gave approximately $24 million to local communities, with employees logging more than 125,000 volunteer hours.
  • A notable donation for the year included a $1 million commitment to The Wadsworth in Hartford, Connecticut, to restore Wednesday public hours, expanding the museum’s weekly schedule from four days to five.

Disaster Preparedness & Response

  • Travelers resolved 90% of property catastrophe claims within 30 days. These results were particularly remarkable given that the company responded to 62 catastrophe events and more than 80,000 catastrophe notices of loss.
  • To expedite the claim process for the January 2025 Palisades and Eaton fires in Southern California, the company used high-resolution aerial imagery, geospatial analytics and AI to quickly identify insured properties that were total losses and then assigned claims to trained disaster specialists.

Eco-Efficient Operations

  • Travelers has reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions from its owned operations by 54% since 2011, furthering its commitment to become carbon-neutral across its owned operations by 2030.
  • The company installed a solar array system at its Claim University campus in Windsor, Connecticut, which the company believes will largely offset energy consumption at that site.

Public Policy

  • The company’s public policy division, the Travelers Institute, launched a new multiyear initiative, Risk. Regulation. Resilience. Responsibility.℠, that explores how policymakers, insurance agents, brokers, carriers and consumers can address the challenges of availability and affordability within the property casualty insurance marketplace.
  • The company’s civic engagement program, Citizen Travelers℠, hosted numerous events designed to educate, inspire and activate employee civic participation. As of May 2026, more than 150 employees across Travelers hold civic leadership positions, serving as firefighters and other first responders, election officials, zoning commissioners and more, demonstrating the breadth of the workforce’s commitment to public service.

Travelers’ sustainability reporting is guided by multiple sustainability disclosure frameworks, as well as ongoing engagement with key stakeholders from both within and outside the organization. This year marks the eighth consecutive year the company has issued stand-alone, comprehensive reports consistent with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards for the insurance industry and the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), making the company a leader in the domestic property casualty insurance industry.
