LightIC Launches FR60: The World’s Smallest 4D FMCW LiDAR in a Palm-Size Form Factor

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#4DLiDAR--LightIC Technologies, a pioneer in silicon-photonics-based FMCW LiDAR, today announced FR60™, the world’s smallest 4D FMCW LiDAR, delivering real-time range and point-level velocity sensing with an ultra-wide field of view in a palm-size form factor.



Purpose-built for robotics and Physical AI, FR60 brings high-performance 4D perception to low-SWaP-C platforms—where size, weight, power consumption, and cost (SWaP-C) are critical constraints. Built on LightIC’s fully integrated, fiberless silicon-photonics chip and a dedicated FMCW LiDAR SoC, FR60 overcomes traditional trade-offs between size, performance, and cost, enabling broader adoption across robotics, smart logistics, and smart infrastructure.

FR60 delivers true 4D perception by measuring both range and point-level velocity, enabling robots to better understand motion, distinguish dynamic objects from static backgrounds, and improve tracking in complex environments. By providing direct velocity information, FMCW LiDAR simplifies SLAM and localization, reducing computational overhead and making FR60 well suited for resource-constrained robotic systems.

At the core of FR60 is LightIC’s proprietary fiberless silicon-photonics integration combined with a coherent FMCW architecture, delivering robust performance in challenging optical conditions. Unlike conventional time-of-flight (ToF) LiDAR and cameras, FR60 maintains accuracy under direct sunlight and in the presence of interference from other LiDAR sensors, enabling consistent operation across indoor and outdoor environments.

To support low-latency 4D perception in a compact form factor, FR60 integrates a dedicated FMCW LiDAR SoC combining high-speed data conversion, hardware-accelerated signal processing, and system control, enabling efficient perception pipelines and flexible deployment.
