MagicalAuth beta launches on iOS and Android across all three major U.S. carriers, replacing SMS one-time passwords
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Glide.id, a digital identity security company, today announced the public beta with full US coverage and full commercial availability of MagicalAuth, its cryptographic authentication platform, across AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon on both iOS and Android — representing an alignment among the nation's three largest carriers around a hardware-rooted cryptographic trust anchor. MagicalAuth enables businesses and digital service providers to move beyond SMS-based one-time passwords toward SIM-anchored cryptographic authentication delivered at network scale – enabling, for the first time, secure login without passwords or additional apps.

The launch arrives at a critical moment. U.S. consumers lost $15.9 billion to fraud in 2025 – up from just over $12 billion the prior year – and the trajectory is accelerating. Deepfakes, voice cloning, SIM swap attacks, and AI-powered social engineering have left organizations seeking secure authentication methods that go beyond the six-digit SMS one-time password. Glide.id's public beta launch is a direct response to that need.
Carrier-Native Cryptographic Authentication
Glide.id’s flagship products, MagicalAuth and SuperPasskey, replace SMS-based one-time passwords with cryptographic authentication built on (e)SIM infrastructure issued by mobile carriers. By shifting authentication to the network level, MagicalAuth verifies identity using carrier-backed cryptographic proof of possession, rather than transmitting codes that can be intercepted or socially engineered.
Each SIM contains a carrier-issued cryptographic key. During authentication, MagicalAuth issues a mathematical challenge that can only be solved using the key embedded in the SIM, enabling identity verification without passwords or one-time codes. This approach is based on the same underlying principle used in chip-based payment cards.
By removing reliance on SMS-based authentication, the system is designed to reduce exposure to common attack vectors including phishing, SIM swap attacks, device takeover, number recycling, interception, and social engineering.
"SMS OTPs were never designed to withstand AI — they were built for a world where the biggest threat was a forgotten password. That world is gone,” said Eran Haggiag, Founder and CEO of Glide.id. “The fix was already built into every SIM card; we just had to turn it on. What our early pilots showed us is that when you remove the friction and the fear at the same time, trust comes back.”
All Three Major U.S. Carriers Align on Cryptographic Identity
With support now live across AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon, Glide.id’s cryptographic authentication capabilities are available to developers and enterprises nationwide. This represents a coordinated response to a threat that no single carrier, institution, or technology company can address alone.
Shawn Hakl, SVP of Product, AT&T Business: “As AI reshapes digital interactions, trust is no longer optional. Network-level security and identity protections play a crucial role in safeguarding transactions and sensitive interactions for businesses and consumers alike. Our work with Glide.id and the use of APIs help protect digital identities and financial transactions at scale by embedding security directly into the network.”
Dirk Mosa, SVP, Spectrum, Wholesale & Roaming, T-Mobile: “T-Mobile is committed to helping businesses prevent fraudulent access to critical information. Enabling access to identity authentication and network intelligence can help our partners and customers fight against the ever-changing threat landscape. Along with Glide.id, we’re showing that the critical layer of identity management runs through carrier networks.”
Scott Lawrence, Chief Product Officer, Verizon Business: "Digital security is the foundation of the modern economy. As AI fundamentally shifts the data landscape, Verizon remains committed to protecting consumers and businesses from increasingly sophisticated threats. With SIM-anchored protection, enterprises can move from older authentication methods to network-embedded, carrier-authenticated protection."
Enterprise Demand
Glide.id is seeing strong demand from major financial institutions across the United States. Account takeover fraud now accounts for nearly one-third of reported business fraud losses in the U.S., making it a leading driver of enterprise fraud exposure. For organizations, the risk extends beyond direct financial loss: large-scale identity breaches drive customer attrition and long-term brand damage.
MagicalAuth reduces exposure to common account takeover vectors while minimizing user friction and improving overall conversion rates as compared to SMS-based infrastructure.
A Global Platform
Today's U.S. launch builds on significant international momentum. Glide.id has carrier integrations already live in Germany, the U.K., and Spain through partnerships with European operators. Expansion across Canada and additional markets is underway in 2026, bringing SIM-anchored cryptographic authentication potentially to billions of consumers globally.
FAQs
1. What is MagicalAuth?
MagicalAuth is Glide.id’s cryptographic authentication system that replaces SMS-based one-time passwords with SIM-based cryptographic verification.
2. How does it work?
It uses a cryptographic key provisioned via the mobile carrier and embedded in the SIM to verify identity through a mathematical challenge at the network level.
3. Does it require apps or hardware?
No. It works on existing iOS and Android devices without additional apps, hardware tokens, or one-time SMS codes.
4. How is it different from SMS-based authentication?
Unlike SMS OTPs, which may be intercepted or socially engineered, MagicalAuth uses cryptographic proof of possession tied to the SIM.
5. Which carriers support it?
It is available across AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the United States.
