Averon Group Expands to the Intermountain West with Investment in Control Equipment Company

Third partner company adds HVAC controls and building automation expertise

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Averon Group, a national HVAC distribution platform backed by Trinity Hunt Partners, today announced its investment in Control Equipment Company (“CEC”), a Utah-based distributor of HVAC controls, building automation systems, and replacement parts. The investment extends Averon’s geographic reach into the Intermountain West as the company builds a national network of independent distributors serving HVAC and mechanical contractors, as well as facility managers.

Based in South Salt Lake City, Utah and serving the region since 1954, CEC supplies contractors and building automation professionals with everything from boiler controls and VAV systems to testing equipment and hard-to-find replacement parts. Long-standing manufacturer relationships and hands-on technical training courses have made CEC a resource contractors rely on. CEC’s leadership team will remain in place, and Bob Bair will continue as President.

“The Intermountain West has the growth and customer demographic fundamentals we target, and CEC offers the right foundation to build on across the region,” said Troy Vellinga, CEO of Averon Group. “Bob and his team have built deep customer relationships throughout the market on the strength of their technical expertise. Our role in this partnership is to deploy Averon platform resources to them so they can do more of what they already do well.”

In a $70 billion U.S. HVAC independent distribution industry that remains highly fragmented, with thousands of distributors, CEC joins Blackhawk Supply in Chicago and Fenco Supply in Knoxville as Averon Group’s third partner company. This partnership strengthens the platform's controls and building automation offering, reinforcing the parts-and-supplies focus at the core of Averon’s platform strategy.

“When our customers click or call, they consistently reach a person who knows the correct technical answer to their building question. That remains our strength,” said Bob Bair, President of Control Equipment Company. “This important partnership with Averon Group simply enhances our ability to provide and accomplish more for our customers. This investment allows us to grow our team, expand our product offering, upgrade our systems, and build out our e-commerce capabilities. We look forward to our next era of growth and value creation with the Averon team.”

Averon Group is actively pursuing partnerships with independent HVAC distributors and adjacent product line providers nationwide. For more information about Averon Group’s strategy and M&A opportunities, visit www.theaverongroup.com.
