Rajant Acquires The Bellwether Group to Advance Mission-Ready Capabilities for National Security

Acquisition combines Rajant technology with deep mission expertise, cleared access and applied research to accelerate mission-ready solutions.

MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#Acquisition--Rajant Corporation today announced the acquisition of The Bellwether Group (TBG), expanding Rajant’s ability to translate advanced technologies into mission-ready capabilities for defense and national security customers.

The acquisition brings together Rajant’s communications, edge-computing and autonomous-system capabilities with Bellwether’s deep experience in national-security missions, applied research and cleared government environments. Together, the organizations will work to identify emerging mission needs, align technologies and capabilities around those needs, and accelerate the development and deployment of solutions designed for complex operational environments.

Bellwether brings a Top-Secret facility clearance, highly cleared personnel and extensive experience supporting sensitive government missions. The combination expands Rajant’s ability to engage in areas of the federal market that require highly specialized mission expertise, while also strengthening its ability to recruit and support cleared technical talent.

“For 25 years, Rajant has pushed beyond what people thought was possible with communications,” said Robert J. Schena, CEO and co-founder of Rajant. “The Bellwether Group takes us into an entirely new arena. We now have the mission expertise, access and extensive experience to bring Rajant capabilities to problems we simply couldn’t reach before. This is bigger than expanding our market. It’s about putting our technology to work where it matters most, supporting the warfighter, strengthening national security and helping defend the nation.”

As part of the acquisition, Tim Teal, founder and CEO of The Bellwether Group, will join Rajant as Chief Mission & Capability Officer (CMCO), reporting directly to CEO and co-founder Robert J. Schena. In the role, Teal will work across Rajant’s technology, strategy and executive teams to identify emerging mission requirements, align internal capabilities with operational needs, and expand the company’s ability to bring together the technologies, partners and expertise required to address complex defense and national-security challenges.

Teal brings decades of mission experience across the national security community, including senior leadership roles in the United States Navy, the National Security Agency (NSA), United States Cyber Command, and the Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF). At Cyber Command, he served as Technical Director and founded what became the organization's J9 directorate; at CNMF, as Director, he led the successful standup of a new unified organization bringing together the J6, J8, and J9 functions. His experience spans mission operations, capability identification, cyber and signals intelligence environments, and building the organizational structures needed to turn emerging requirements into deployed solutions.

“Rajant has an extraordinary technology foundation,” said Tim Teal, Chief Mission & Capability Officer of Rajant. “The opportunity now is to connect those capabilities directly to mission, to understand what operators need, identify what already exists, determine what is missing, and bring the right technologies and partners together to solve the problem. Our objective is to deliver capabilities that make a meaningful difference for the warfighter and the nation.”

Dr. Shana Teal, COO and co-founder of The Bellwether Group, will join Rajant as Chief Scientist. An equal partner in Bellwether’s leadership and development, Dr. Teal brings extensive experience in applied research, cognitive analytics, human behavior and national-security environments, as well as experience working within highly cleared government environments.

As Chief Scientist, Dr. Teal will lead applied research focused on translating emerging technology and human-behavioral insight into mission-ready capabilities for operational and national-security environments. Working alongside Tim Teal and Rajant’s engineering and development teams, she will help translate emerging mission needs into executable technical programs, capability enhancements and new product opportunities.

“The most powerful innovation happens when mission need and technical capability inform one another,” said Dr. Shana Teal, Chief Scientist of Rajant. “By combining Rajant’s engineering and technology base with Bellwether’s mission understanding and applied research expertise, we can translate emerging requirements into operationally relevant capabilities faster and with greater mission focus.”

At the same time, Rajant expects the expanded mission focus to strengthen its broader technology portfolio. Research and capabilities developed for demanding national-security environments can inform solutions for mining, transportation, industrial autonomy and other mission-critical markets, while Rajant’s experience in complex commercial environments provides real-world operating insight applicable to emerging defense requirements.
